THE BEGINNING
I moved to California chasing a dream.
A life filled with travel, art, and the freedom to finally find my own voice. At first, it was everything I'd hoped for, new places, new energy, a sense of expansion. It felt like stepping into the version of myself I'd always imagined.
But alongside that came heartbreak, and a slow sense of disconnection I didn't fully recognize at the time..
THE UNRAVELING
Eventually, I ended up back in Chicago living with my parents.
In the same place I had once been so determined to outgrow, feeling lost, defeated, and disconnected from the person I thought I was becoming.
Without fully realizing it, I began to numb. What started as a way to cope slowly turned into a pattern of disconnection. A quiet fall into addiction. It didn't feel dramatic at the time. It felt like survival. But with every step, I drifted further from myself.
I reached a point where everything felt too far gone, and the idea of starting over again felt impossible.
"And yet, in the middle of that darkness, something small kept appearing, a butterfly. Quiet, steady, impossible to ignore. A reminder that something within me was still alive."
THE RETURN
I found my way back through painting.
Through nature. Through moments of presence. And in that return, I understood something deeper: my art was never just a form of expression, it was a regulated state. A way to come back into my body. Into calm. Into life.
Slowly, I began to remember who I was before everything went quiet. The version of me that could feel, create, and breathe without force.
THE MISSION
From that space, Butterfly Effect began to take shape.
Rooted in the belief that even the smallest moment of awareness can shift the direction of a life. Through my art, and the charitable work I'm building toward, I'm committed to supporting mental health initiatives and creating space for others to feel seen, supported, and less alone.
My work isn't here to define healing. It's here to hold space for it. To remind you that even after disconnection, you can return. And sometimes that return begins with something as simple, and as powerful, as learning how to #breatheeasy again.
